Walter H. Flood established Flood Testing Laboratories, Inc. in 1959 as The Flood Company. Mr. Flood had left Walter H. Flood and Company, Inc., a family testing business started by his father in 1913. The Flood Company was incorporated in 1970, and became Flood Testing Laboratories, Inc. Between 1959 and the present, FTL has performed caisson, concrete, asphalt and steel inspections on a large array of projects throughout the Chicago area and the states of Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, Ohio and Michigan. Our research and development of high strength concrete in conjunction with area concrete producers has produced the highest strength commercially produced concrete in the world. We helped develop and test the first commercially produced 7,500psi, 9,000psi, 12,000psi and 14,000psi concrete. FTL was also a leader in developing high-strength, structural, lightweight concrete.
